Delivering Exceptional Service to Students
Hi, I'm Rebecca and, as a teacher, I have over 15 years of experience teaching levels A1 to C2 in Oxford and Istanbul. I am a committed educationalist, I am DELTA and CELTA qualified, and I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). My most recent role is Director of Studies at a British Council accredited English language school in Oxford city centre where I have worked with adult learners from around the world. I have extensive experience in Cambridge: Proficiency (CPE), Advanced (CAE), First (FCE), Preliminary (PET), IELTS, Trinity Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE), and Trinity Integrated Skills in English (ISE). For the latter two, I have attended training at Trinity exam centres in London and Birmingham and I am fully trained in the Trinity Secure English Language Testing requirements for UK visa and residence applications.
I strive to achieve the best for my learners and I am proud of what I have achieved with them over the years. I have helped hundreds of learners to reach their goals, including passing required English language exams. As stated above, this has included exams up to C2 level and I have, on a number of occasions, helped adult students to work towards and achieve IELTS band scores of 7 to 8.5, including writing. Recently, I have aided a number of Oxford residents to pass the Trinity SELT - GESE Level 5 and, as a result, they have been able to obtain settled status in the UK or British Citizenship.
I pride myself on the fact that I always manage to create a productive and personal relationship with my students and that my classes have often been described as dynamic, creative and learner-centred. I aim to achieve this by integrating the 4 skills into my lessons and by drawing on the 4 systems of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and discourse. During my DELTA training, which I completed in 2019, all of my teaching observations were graded with distinctions and merits and it is this level of teaching and commitment which I aim to bring to future teaching opportunities.
I attended several English lessons during my experience in the UK, starting from beginner level. I managed to gain confidence and fluency with the language and within a few months my English improved very well. Although the lessons were always challenging, Rebecca would make it nice and easy to learn.
